N. N ′ - carbonyldiimidazole (CDI) is a derivative of imidazole, which has strong chemical reaction activity. It can react with ammonia, alcohol, acid and other functional groups to synthesize many compounds which are difficult to obtain by general chemical methods.
 
As an activator, CDI is fast and simple, so it is widely used in organic synthesis.
 
Using CDI as activator, amphiphilic urea oligomers with good antibacterial properties can be rapidly synthesized; hydroxyquinine derivatives with amide structure can be self-assembled in solid phase; heterocyclic organic compounds with urea structure can be prepared by self cyclization of monomer.
